Samsung 352B New Firmware T507...

Burn baby burn!

Samsung 352B New Firmware T507...

Postby govern1 on Tue Oct 07, 2003 6:44 pm

I saw this on the firmware page (http://forum.firmware-flash.com/portal.php) and wondered if anyone has tried it out? I've already put my 348B back in and am on travel for work right now. I'm really very curious if it will correct the burning issues that this drive has, ie slowing down in the middle of a burn and giving buffer underrun errors. If anyone tries it out, could they post their results here?

Thanks.

Postby wicked1 on Tue Oct 07, 2003 8:18 pm

I am installing this right now as I too have had a few problems with the sammy 352. I will post some results in a little bit after I burn some CD's.

With the new firmware it actually writes reliably to the infodisc memorex high speed CDrw's. I am going to try some TY discs out next.

TY results

Postby wicked1 on Tue Oct 07, 2003 11:59 pm

The TY's that I have still burn at 48X :( I would of hoped they would manage to actually burn at 52X since I have never gotten a 52X burn out of it. Next to be burned are some Verbatims(MCC). I think I need a life other than this computer :)

So far I've only found 1 disc type which will write at 52X without slowdowns: Samsung CD-R in jewel cases....not samsung in spindles they slows down near the end. All samsungs have plasmon ATIP.

TY = 48X, but no slowdowns
CMC = 52X but slows down
Prodisc = 52X but slows down
Ritek = 52X but slows down, often slows down to 16X!!
Nan-Ya = 52X but slows down
Moser baer india = 52X but slows down
Mitsubishi = 48X and slows down

Tried a lot of different discs, they are more or less the same...SLOWDOWNS :(

MCC disc result

They only burned at 48X still too :( I noticed a 5-6 second time period at the very end the speeds fluctuated alot.
