Sony CD-R/RW drive manual incomplete....

Postby pranav81 on Sun Feb 01, 2004 7:50 am

Hi guys.
Last week a friend of mine bought a new Sony 52X32X52X.We installed the drive and the accompanying Ahead Nero 6.While I was just burning the CD I found that the maximum burning speed that I could select was 40X.I then consulted the manual and found that there was a little info about the "turbo mode".But there was NO info about how to activate and deactivate it.I read all the documentation that came with the drive. It was only stated that some discs cannot handle the 52X reading speed and may crack in the process, and so the reading and writing speed is limited to 40X.I had somewhere on this site that pressing the eject button for 3 seconds activates the turbo feature. It sure worked and the drive could then write at 52X succesfully.
The manual also contained spelling mistakes which are not at all expected from a company like Sony.

What do you guys say?

Sony usually includes a sheet of paper with information on how to enable the "turbo mode". Its possible that they forgot to do that.

Why don't you just MTKflash it with the Lite-On 52327S firmware? No more turbo-button hassles.
