Has this site done a review of the MPDAP20U

and

The product specs say that it will burn a CD-R at 24X max. As I understand it, the device is built for USB 2.0 with backwards compat. for 1.1. I'm sure I'm running USB 1.1 and wonder how this might affect the CD-R burn rate.

Thanks

Nope we haven't looked at it yet. Using USB 1.1 is going to slow its reading and writing speeds down considerably. Most likely, you'll have a maximum CD read speed of about 6x and a write speed of 4x. You can forget about viewing DVD's with USB 1.1 too.

Thought it was to good to be true.

Think its worth getting a USB 2.0 port for the laptop? Is PCMCIA card only way?

Anything comperble to this product in terms of depth of media?

I could care less about the memory stick (unless it came with one :) ), but I don't have a DVD player at home or a CD-RW. Seemd like a good buy especially with the portability and rechargeable battery.

Thoughts?
