They have the Optimum DVD-R 10 pack at $4.94 per. No longer available online, but my local store said to just print out the page and they would honor the price in-store. Now, the quality of these discs is probably less than stellar, but at $.50 a piece I am willing to try them on my 2 burners . Here is the link from slickdeals.net - Staples Deal

Well at that price it's worth trying them to see if they've gotten better or work with my 500. Wonder if they're still 2x or if they have faster now.

Bought 5 packs and they burned at 2x. I didn't do any checks beyond playing them in my PS2, but they played just fine . They were on clearance for $6.50 anyway, but the extra little bit off still sweetened the deal.
