I know many of you have been waiting for this drive. Here's the official announcement:

Lite-On IT, a global leader in optical storage, is pleased to announce the availability of the new LTC-48161H combo DVD drive for PC environments. Designed for those with a taste for innovation, Lite-On's newest CD-ReWritable improves the user experience so consumers can quickly and easily save and share music, photos, data and more.

CD-RW Features
With performance of 48x24x48 (maximum write/rewrite/read), Lite-On’s newest CD-RW drive can burn a 60-minute CD in less than three minutes. The LTC-48161H also possesses 16X DVD playback performance. Its digital audio extraction (DAE) rate of 48x also makes it one of Lite-On’s fastest drives for creating custom compilations in audio, video or data applications. Lite-On’s LTC-48161H has an onboard 2MB buffer and utilizes SMART-BURN technology enabling users to “burn and work,” running other applications while making a CD with less risk of failed burns.

The key performance specifications of the LTC-48161H are achieved with supported media only.

Maximum Speed 48X 24X 48X 16X

Dimensions
The LTC-48161H fits easily into a 5.25” drive bay and weighs less than two pounds.

Compatibility
The internal LTC-48161H drive is compatible with Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition/2000/Millenium Edition/XP environments.

I hope LiteON doesn't use that ABS system.

It was starting to drive me crazy and I just put my LTD163D onto another system.

According to CEBIT sources, the Lite-On Dual DVD writer will be released / available sometime in MAY. :D

Let's hope there will be no more delays this time around. I remember it was anounced to be released in march not that long ago. Nothing we can do about that anyway (well, we might try to put the heat on Kennyshin to spill the beans a.s.a.p.)
