It seems as though when the drive gets warm it refuses to copy data without errors. Only when the system has been sitting off for the night will it work the way it should when i boot it up in the morning, but after a little use the little bugger quits copying data on me

How warm does the drive get? Is it just a little warm, or is it almost too hot to touch?

Strange... my PCRW1208 gets very warm, but it never seems to fail. Could you easily exchange the drive for another one of the same model?

This is concerning.

I have had a number of Samsung drives and have had trouble with all of them. 3 HDD's (two developed data errors, one the head kept slipping and the drive had to be turned upside down then tipped back up again to work), 2 CDROMs (32x stops reading when warm, 48x won't read some CDRs a few months after buying) and 2 DVDROMs (one was DOA, other will only read DVDRs now).

It seems Samsung have issues with quality control. Anyone else had this trouble? Strange because I've had Samsung TVs, DVD players, VCRs and Microwaves and they've all been trouble-free. I have a 10yo Samsung TV and have never had to lift a soldering iron to it...

I was going to get one of these (to free up a drive bay on one of my PCs) and give Samsung one last chance on this but now I'm not so sure...
