i have a benq 4816p on a pent 3. 800mhz,40 gb 5400,128 mb memory
ok. extracting to hard drive is slow 2300 kbs compared to burning at 48x 7200kbs from the hard drive. burning from the hard drive is fine and faster than burning to hard drive. what could be the problem, i already deframented the hard drive and that did not do any better.

What are you extracting (ISO 9660 data, CD-DA, VCD/SVCD), from what are you extracting (CD-R, CD-RW, pressed CD), and what are you using for the extraction? What is the read transfer rate when tested in CD Speed (put a full disc in and run the transfer rate test)?

it was the burner(benq4816p) that could not read the cds well and it came in a I/O MAGIC box, so i took it back and exchanged for another and found (benq 52x24x52 speed) in the I/O MAGIC 48X16X48 box this time and it even reads dirty scratched cd's well. i am not fond of BENQ but the 52x speed is the best benq/acer i ever had.
the ones i had:
acer 2x2x6 the worst and half of the cd's i burned with this drive do not work presently.so i smashed 2 speed with a baseball bat
acer 12x8x32 ok but extremly!!!!! slow audio extraction!!!!!!
acer20x10x40 hated it slowest 20x speed ever and slow audio extraction
benq/acer 48x16x48 can not read scratched or lightly scratched cd's that well
benq 52x24x52 for the price of a 48x16x48 and i love it!! very fast and reads all kinds of scratched cd's,audio extraction fast
