Can Samsung drives (252B, 248B etc.) back-up protected cds?

according to Ian's reviews, the 240B and 332B do not, the 348B does.

Depends what sort of protected CDs you mean.

If protected with Secrurom or PSX titles, yes all modern CD writers can manage these (with the exception of Benq drives which can't do PSX as they recalculate the checksum of subschannel data on the fly).

If you mean SD2, not sure. Some Samsungs do, some don't.

If CDS audio protection, I'm pretty sure no. Ian's reviews don't cover protection in any great detail, perhaps CDRInfo has the edge in this area.
