If Lite-On is noisy would the Sony be also ?

Hi,

I understand that the following models are basically identical, if not for the firmware versions:

Sony CRX210A1/E1 (48x12x48) - Lite-On LTR-48126S
Sony CRX215A1/E1 (48x24x48) - Lite-On LTR-48246S
Sony CRX220A1/E1 (52x24x52) - Lite-On LTR-52246S

Therefore, if the above-mentioned Lite-On models are being criticized for being noisy, would I be correct in deducing that the equivalent Sony model would also be noisy ? Would this be a reason why the Sony's use a default 40x speed limitation (i.e. in order to reduce noise).

Thx.

Noise isn't the only reason. Sony was also concerned about discs cracking or shattering at high speeds.

OK. Understood.

So then......the Sony's (running at Turbo speed) would be just a noisy as their Lite-On equivalent?

Thx again.

Yes, if a Lite-On model is noisy, a Sony based on that Lite-On will be equally noisy when running at maximum speed.
