Samsung SW-248F does not support Mount Rainier
Posted: Wed Apr 09, 2003 7:07 amHey. I am using a Samsung SW-248F 8 MB buffer retail drive, as my 52246S is under RMA. This is a nice drive, and when I saw a new update over at samsungodd.com, where they released the R604 firmware which was supposed to give Mt Rainier capability to the drive, I was very happy. But I flashed the drive, and Nero InfoTool did not show MR capability. I shot off an email to Samsung, and here's their reply:

Actually, your drive is not compatible with Mt.ranier format.

Yeesh. You would have thought that they freakin' KNEW what capabilities the drive chipset had!
