I just bought a Aopen burner and I would like to upgrade the firmware on it. The file I downloaded from Aopen seems to be XP compatible so that part shouldn't be hard. What I want to do first is check the firmware version on the rom right now if anyone and tell me how to do this I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

Hi IceManU

A quick way is to look at the top of the drive if it's not installed, or if U don't have any software loaded yet, right click My Computer & select manage, then on the system tab, select Device Manager & look for the drive there, if U select the properties for the drive, it will tell U the firmware version it is now

Hope It Helps

Only Windows 98/ME shows the firmware version. Windows 2000/XP do not.

I would use Nero InfoTool like dhc014 suggested; it's a great tool, and it will tell you the capabilities of your drive along with the firmware version.
