hi,

I'm looking for (cheap, taiwanese) alternatives for the verbatim 24X cd-rw discs.

On a Plextor medialist (48-24-48 drive) CMC and Fujifilm 24X CD-RW are recommended ). Also Yamaha lately updated their writer for writing 24X Ritek discs. Does anybody know where to buy Ritek, Fujifilm or CMC 24X discs and if they are available at all ? And what is the quality ?

(I know Infodisc 24X is bad)

thanks

Look for Mr. Data or Imation branded media, they will contain CMC discs inside. In a quick search on Google, I was unable to find any online vendors selling 24X CD-RW Mr. Data or Imation discs, but I'm sure they are out there somewhere.

If you want Yamaha branded 24X CD-RW discs, click on the link below. I'm not sure who makes these discs, but if they are branded as Yamaha, they must work well in Yamaha burners, right? :)

someone posted here some time ago that the Yamaha CDRWs are Verbatim/Mitsubishi CDRWs.

Yamaha CDRWs were about 3x more expensive than the Verbatims, as i recall.

I checked Buy.com at the same time that I checked Amazon.com, and unfortunately, neither have 24X CMC, Ritek, or Fuji CD-RW media. Not unless Memorex ditched Infodisc is packaging one of the above; there is no proof of this, to my knowledge.

Now I checked some Plextor medialist again....and guess what:
I cannot find Fujifilm 24X discs anymore on any of their list. But for the premium writer Ritek 24X discs have been added. So still CMC or Ritek discs should be available somewhere. By the way: weren't Ritek 24X discs bundled with some drives ?

greetings

Maarten

It's important to note that the most expensive disc is the one that doesn't work. So far, the Mitsubishi are they only ones we have that are known to produce good quality burns.
