Cendyne CDICD00167 = LG GCC-4320B??

Please pardon if this is a dumb question. I have searched this board and google but have not found an answer.

I recently purchased a Cendyne DVD-ROM/CDRW, Model CDICD00167. On the label under 'Drive' is says 'GCC-4320B' which is an LG combo drive model number.

I understand that Cendyne doesn't manufacture anything, and just rebadges and markets drives, so my guess is that the drive I bought is in fact the LG drive. But I noticed in the (well-done) review of the GCC-4320B on this website that the LG model has a headphone jack and volume control on the front panel, which my drive lacks.

So finally my question: Can anybody confirm whether the Cendyne CDICD00167 is in fact an LG GCC-4320B, and if so can LG firmware updates be used to bring it up to the 4320B spec (which indicates faster write speed in some modes).

Thanks for your help - MMcK

Welcome to CDRLabs, twigman! :D

That isn't a dumb question. I think that you're right about it being an LG drive, but look in Device Manager in Windows just to be sure. If you see "HL-DT-ST" before the drive model number, it is an LG drive.

If the label says 'GCC-4320B' then it is definitely an LG drive in the box. Don't let the faceplate throw you off, CenDyne may have put their own faceplate on the drive.
