I was browsing in Sam's Club and saw some Maxell CD-R blanks with a gold colored label. The label said "Made in Japan". Might these be Taiyo Yuden disks?

Chances are good that these discs are manufactured by Taiyo Yuden.

But keep in mind that these are the Maxell Audio CD-Rs (I've seen this same blank media in Sam's, Costco, and other places). If you want Taiyo Yuden-manufactured Maxell CD-Rs that are not tailored for a stand-alone audio CD recorder, then you'll need to get the Maxell CD-R Pro.
