Does anyone know if the new lg gce-8520b black has a black tray? Or is it black just outside?
Another question, i can´t enable DMA with my gce-8520b in win98, i have it connected as slave with a hdd (udma33) as master in the same ide cable, but i can´t enable DMA in both, there is no DMA box to check in the settings on the control panel (looks like it is PIO4...) Does anyone have the same problem or knows a solution? (I´m using a P3 600Mhz, it should let me enable DMA)

I don't know whether the LG has a black tray; I haven't come across that one before. :(

If you don't see a DMA checkbox in the drive properties for your drive, you probably have an IDE driver that enables DMA or disables DMA through an included utility, or it may just automatically select whether or not it uses DMA. For example, I have a PCI IDE controller that automatically selects what DMA mode it uses.

Try to see if you can find any utility with your IDE drivers that would allow you to enable DMA.

BTW, what chipset (Intel, VIA, SiS, etc.) do you have?

All LG black drives I have come across have a black faceplate and a black tray. I don't know for sure about the GCE-8520B, but I know the GCE-8320B and GCC-4320B have black trays. If you can get your hands on an OEM version of the GCE-8520B and it is black, there is a very good chance the tray will be black as well. Look for a Dell or Gateway OEM version of the drive, they seem to be in abundance.
