Do I need a dvd-rom in my new machine if i also fit a Sony CRX-220E1 52x 24x 52x CD Rewriter OEM????

I would only really be using it for loading games, software and music.

Also the Sony is the the cd-rw i have been looking at but does anyone have any sugestions that are a better option for a similar price (around £30-£40)???

Welcome to cdrlabs borobob1.

Price wise you might want to see if the LiteOn ltr-52246s is advalible since the Sony actualy a LiteOn drive you might be able to get the LiteOn drive for less. Sony uses their own firmware instead of the LiteOn firmware.

In my opinion you could make do without the dvd-rom if you wanted to. Some people such as myself only use their cdrw-drives for burning and use a cd/dvd-rom drive for loading programs and gaming.

Only get a DVD-ROM drive if you plan to watch DVD Movies or think that you might like to in the future. DVD games are very rare, but if you have one of those you'll need a DVD-ROM drive to play it.

For what I think is 54 Euro, I found an LTR-52246S that will ship out to England (That is where you live right, I believe the currency you posted is the pound.)

54 Euro is 38 pounds, and then add on shipping.

I found one for 46 Euro plus shipping. I don't know if they ship to England though as I don't know German. If you do know German, then you may want to check out this site: http://s73963496.einsundeinsshop.de/ses ... 69101%3D29

46 Euro=31 pounds
