Samsung 52X24X52 question(s)

I just bought a Samsung 52X24X52. I wanted the 8Mb buffer and it was the only one I can find. Amazing review. One of the best. Anyway it's white/beige and my computer is black. I want to paint it. What sort of paint should I use...I want it to be flat and not shiny.

Bring out the ideas boys.

Thanx.

He already bought a Samsung drive.

HBK4550 I've heard of some people popping off the front bezel and using nylon dye. Unfortunately, I don't have any more info for you on how to do it.

back to his question which no one answered. I believe you have to use some type of enamal spray paint. The type that is used on metal or plastic. Just ask the hardware store.

Doing a quick search on the internet the guides that I found used enamal spray paint for painting drives.

The front bezels? Take em off the drive and dye them.

I haven't did this myself, but read that Krylon makes a paint called Fusion specifically for plastic that is supposed to work good. Someone said you can buy it in Walmart or automotive shops.

taking the face plates off drives is really easy.. sometimes the buttons and LED defractors don't come out as easy though... in any event paint usually sticks to clean, hard platic very well (ie no need for special paint).

Just rub some paint thinner AKA mineral spirits over the plastic to clean it and then paint it with your spray paint.

I'd recomend any automotive paint.. since you want a flat black, I've used rustoleum with good results and I know they make a flat black BBQ grill paint.

Dye might work as well, but you'd have to remove any labels etc if you wanted a consistant finish.

I used high heat paint made for engine manifolds. Worked great. Only one coat, looks real nice and will not come off...I even tried sanding on the back and the paint wont come off. Sweet job and long lasting. :D

Thanx guys for all your advice

Buy a black one and switch the bezels, then sell the beige one on Ebay or FS/FT forums
