There are several ways:

1) Make a DVD-ROM disc that contains mp3 files. Some dvd players with mp3 playback will then play back the mp3 files

2) Encode your tracks as 48 kHz or 96 kHz PCM with 24 bits. Author an audio-only dvd disc (often called DAD DVD disc). This will play back on all Dvd players either at 48 kHz or 96 kHz (some players will even give digital 1:1 output from 96 kHz tracks)

3) Encode your tracks into Mpeg Audio Layer II (not mp3) files and author an audio only disc that contains A LOT OF compressed audio files and plays back in ALL DVD players (if you do authoring right)

DVD-Audio (a special format of DVD) cannot be done with home made recorders.
