Hey everybody.I've been using my Lite on 52327s(black) cdrw drive for the 3 weeks I haven't experienced any problems since yesterday.A friend of mine brought Memorex Cdr's (purchased from Bestbuy) and we installed Nero Express on WinXP Professional (licensed) . When we tried to burn that cdr media we always get stuck at 5% at Nero. We tested endless combinations sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't. We haven't had any problems with TDK cdr media. But today all of a sudden the cdr drive (I mean Lite on) started having many difficulties reading the Tdk cdr 's which I have burned months ago (and this drive used to read the same TDK cds really fast just 3 days ago) . Now I have no idea what's goin on ? My question is , is it possible to mess up a cd burner just by installing new software (like nero, or OS like win xp) .Is there a possibility to fix this by formatting the hdd and installing the OS again.

Configuration:
Shuttle XPC SN41G2 Black
AMD ATHLON XP 2600+
Crucial 512 MB DDR PC3200
Western Digital HDD 15GB 5400 RPM
LITE ON 52327S

Thanks a lot to everybody.

Your DMA setting might have reverted back to PIO mode somehow. That will make everything it does go REAL slow. You can look at the IDE controller under the device manager and check the mode, it's in under advanced settings

Unfortunately I checked that already and it's set to DMA and the drive works in Ultra DMA Mode 2.Everything looks fine.Funny thing is I have the exact same CDRW drive on another computer at my place and it doesn't do that.I thought this might be an incompatibility or something between shuttle and lite on.

If you've installed something new for burning lately it might not be playing well with others. You might also want to disable the built in burning program, sometimes it can cause problems.
I had a problem with my DVD burner when I tried instant dvd/cd, it just caused all kinds of problems with the burner scrambling files and not finnishing properly. I removed it and dvd was working fine again, never figured out why, it just did
