Hey gang, long time no see.

Funny story happened to me today:

I ran out of disc space, so thought I'd burn some files - popped in 48x media, selected 40x burn speed, pressed burn.. and bam, not enough space on media. Oh well, I took out 90min cdr, put it in, clicked burn.. and noticed this media is only 32x

Well, I let it burn, checked "verify written data".. which came out without any errors.

I ran KProbe through it, and this is what I got:



Should I consider this media to be usable, or should I reburn those files at slower speed? I wont be using them much, but I still need em.

I would re-burn that at a slower speed, probably at 12x.

Here's a question for you, WHERE did you find Ricoh 90min CD-Rs??? can you give some info on the media itself? I've never heard of Ricoh making 90min CD-Rs

Uhm, bought them in Lithuania, labeled as acme cd-r, manufactured at JSC ACME Baltija (Baltic) - which says they were manufactured in Lithuania. Using Ricoh goods? I have no idea.

And I dont want to reburn it either Those discs are expensive..

Well, keep the original files on your HDD then. And run Nero Scan Disc to make sure the whole disc is completely readable.

I wouldn't trust that burn for long time storage either. If you don't want to use another 90 min CDR, unload a bit more from your hard drive and use 2 regular blanks.

BTW- the KProbe scans are smaller and sharper if you save them as PNGs instead of JPGs.

It's 800mb - not enough for two blanks, too much for one. It's discography of one band, so I don't want to mix it with other stuff.

Whole disc is completely readable, so I'm not sure of what to do..

did you try burning these CDs at a lower speed?

Nope, first one I've tried.

But I tried burning same compilation at 12x, as suggested, and it came out even worse - all files still readable, but more C1s and much more C2s

not all media burns the best at 12x, it's just a very common reliable speed.

Is this an audio CD you made, or a compilation of MP3s?
