HELP!

Hi, I just bought a Sony CRX220A1 CD writer and not quite sure how to connect it. I've connected the IDE connector (this was the only connector supplied) which goes from the CD drive, to the CD-R Drive then to the main CPU. I have also connected a DC Input connector to the CD-R drive. Does it matter which DC Input connector I use? The CD and CD-R drives work but when I open the software it says "The ASPI Manager has not been installed" and if I got to burn a CD it says "There is no drive connected". What other connections do I need? There is space for a Analogue audio connector, is this necessary (because one was not supplied) and if so, where does it connect to the CPU? Please help!

Sam.

Take a look at these guides for the physical installation, ignoring any of the software instructions:

When you say the drives work, does that mean when you put a CD that already has data on it (for example a pressed CD like your Windows installation CD) into the drives (both the old CD-ROM and the new CD-RW) the operating system sees them and you can read files from them using Windows Explorer? If so, then you have completed the physical installation successfully. It sounds like you are having trouble installing the software needed to burn CDs.

What burning software came with the drive, and what operating system are you using?

By the way, no it does not matter which DC connector you used as long as it fits. And the analog audio output hooks to your sound card. It isn't strictly necessary since you can also use digital audio playback for playing audio CDs.

When I say they work, I mean they don't quite work! The lights work and the drives open is what I meant. Nothing happens when I put a CD in the CD-R drive but the CD drive works fine. I'll have a look at those sights now, Thank you.
