Hi guys, first off I'm glad I found a forum where I think my problem can be solved. It seems like there's a lot of CDR/RW smart people in this forum.

Anyway here's my problem, I have a 52x24x52x Sony CDRW Drive (Sony CDRW CRX225E) and I recently bought Verbatim 52x CD-Rs.

(http://www.verbatim.com/products/produc ... pro_id=404)

I tried Nero 6.0.0.11 and it only allows me to burn at 40x max. :(
I tried Alcohol 1.4.6.711 and it only allows me to burn at 40x max. :(

I don't get it, why do my 52x CD-Rs not want to burn with my 52x burner???

Thanks in advance guys...

There is typically two reasons for this. Speed of burning is controlled by two factors:

1) By the firmware on the CD-RW drive
2) By the ATIP information on the disk

Typically most firmware have a list of compatible media they can burn to at relavent speeds typically in your case 52x. If the media it detects isn't in this list it normally defaults to a slower burning speed and this speed is often 40x. One reason to update your firmware often if your happy at doing that.

Secondly a cd-r contains information on the disk that gives the software and cd-rw information on how to burn to the disk (e.g. laser power level, space on disk, burn speed etc). As this is obviously not the problem as you have 52x cd-rs then I would look at the first options. Anyone else with any other ideas? regards

Robert

Thanks for the quick response, well, last I checked there are no firmware updates...

But I was also thinking maybe I have to turn on a "turbo boost" mode I was reading about in the review of this drive

Thanks again...

Did turning on Turbo Burst help?

Check out this post. It says that, for some Sony drives, at least, Turbo Boost may need to be on to burn faster than 40x.
