4X-12X = High Speed
16X-24X = Ultra Speed
24X-32X = Ultra High Speed?

Why don't they just call it Ludicrous Speed?

Thanks, The first thing in my mind when I open the tray of the new LiteOn was "This drive not sound like other LiteOn drives", then when burned the first disc the sound was very similar but on the lead out sounds some diferent.

Right now I only have 2 kinds of media, Verbatim Datalife 52x and Verbatim Valuelife 48x (CMC), and a very few of Benq (ACER) 32x.

Later I post my tests.

I'm curious; what does the tray sound like on your 52327S that makes it different from older Lite-On drives (like my 12101B, 32123S, and 48125W)?

yup, me too - is it quieter or what ..??

Is quieter, but also the pitch of the sound is higher. The first time I opened it I thought that this drive has a belt drive instead of gears, but not.

And the difference at the end when is writing the leadout you almost cannot notice it because it is not making a pause between the track and leadout.

I used to hear the spin down at the end before the leadout.

650MB or 700MB?

Will these first Verbatim 32x UltraSpeed CD-RW's be 650MB or 700MB?

Verbatim just announced them in this press release. They seem to be 700MB.

hrm...I wonder if Infodisc will even bother TRYING to compete this time LOL!

by the way, if you see Melody branded 24x CD-RWs....STAY AWAY! even if they are cheap!

Code: Select all
Drive Type = CD-RW
         Disc Type = ULTRA SPEED CD-RW 24X
           Lead In = 97:25:31
          Lead Out = 79:59:74
  Nominal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f/LBA:359849)
Manufacturer Maybe = Infodisc Technology Co., Ltd.
Smart-Burn Speed Limit = Wrt(24X),Rd(40X)

ATIP read by my LiteON 48125W drive.... yes, even though it can't burn it, the LiteON 48125W can still recognize the disc as USCD-RW

and yes...even the Plextor Premium barfs on this disc

Aren't those Memorex 24x discs (with the reputation for being awful) made by Infodisc, too?
