Verbatim just announced 52x CD-R's in this press release. This might just be a bit to soon to ask, but what's their quality? How do they compare to Taiyo Yuden discs?

umm, 52x verbatim DLP discs aren't that new though.... I've seen them around for over a month at least. and one came packaged with my Plextor Premium.... weird

Yeah, they have been out for a while. For some reason, my Plextor Premium likes thier 48x disks better than thier 52x disks. Both burn at 52x in a full burn with PoweRec on.

That press release was from Verbatim Europe. Those discs have been out in Asia and the States for some time.

I have to agree with aviationwiz about the 48x and 52x discs. Oddly enough, some drives like the 48x discs better even though they look identical.

What about their quality compared to Taiyo Yuden or other high quality discs?

Already saw that link. However, browsing through 24 pages is not that easy. Is there a easy way to find a drive/disc combination?

cfitz, you're right. I now see some results for the LTR52327S on the first page (I think they were not available yet when I last looked into it). Since there are not many, I guess I should add some for the discs I tried or am going to try.

How is 0% errors defined? No errors by Nero's data verification? No C1 errors? No C2 errors?

a disc is considered "good" for the purpose of that thread if after burning it, you test it in the burner used to create it, scan it with CD Speed ScanDisc surface scan and get 100% good (green).

Probably not and that will make it very difficult to obtain accurate results to submit :-(

I have tried several discs in the past at several speeds (which I did not write down), but currently have only 1 kind of disc available that I can test on...

Posted them in the media topic. However, only sucessful so far for Philips 90min CD-R's. Verbatim 48x and Maxell S 48x both failed at 52x (altough SmartBurn 3.1.1 identified them as being able to be written at 52x).

Should I retry them some time at 52x or step down to lower speeds?
