InCD and VIA Chipset question

I've heard rumours that Via chipset motherboards do not support Nero's InCD, but how true this is, I honestly dont know.

Are Via aware of this problem and so is Ahead Nero?

I've almost completed building a AMD XP2000+, with MSI motherboard and will have 512DDR RAM, 52x Liteon 52x CD-ROM and 52327S burner as well, but because my motherboard has got a VIA chipset, this has really in someways upset me.

Well anybody here with a VIA chipset motherboard and using InCD without any problems ?

this is not true.
many people with motherboards based on VIA chipsets run InCD just fine.

Ian's test computer has a VIA based motherboard! and he definitely manages to run InCD on it! :o

Hi, many thnks for your reply.

Perhaps you may want to read the following from cdrinfo forum.

I've used InCD 3.x successfully on a Via-based board (ABIT KT7A). InCD 4 works on it too, but I don't use it because of its bugs.

There is a lot of misinformation posted in forums by people who pass themselves as a reliable source. Many of the statements posted are just off-the-wall opinions by someone who wasn't competent to troubleshoot a problem. This "InCD is incompatible with VIA chipsets" theory is total nonsense. If nobody challenges this statement on that forum it doesn't speak very well of the forum.

I've personally used VIA chipsets with InCD and virtually every other packet writing software on the market. VIA chipsets have a huge share of the world market. This newly made "discovery of incompatibility" is preposterous, particulary so since the poster is apparently the only one aware of this problem. :-?

It is amusing that the originator of this misinformation stated:

i'm open to any informed or experienced suggestions.

This request for help seems to me to be an admission of uncertainty regarding the "VIA/InCD incompatibility". A reader is disturbed by doubt and repeats the dumb story on another forum with the "I've heard rumors" opening.

This is indeed how rumors are started, and usually the more preposterous the story the easier it is swallowed and the faster it travels over the Web. 8)

too bad packet writing is slower than the speed at which the rumors spread! :o

Well put Inertia. VIA chipsets and InCD have been around for years now. Unless this is something with VIA's new KT600 or 800 chipsets, we would have heard about it if there truly was a bug.

I've found that InCD works equally bad on all chipsets.
