Dear Harrier,
Hi.Try using SmartBurn from Lite-ON.It reports manufacturers even if the ATIP code is generic. This has worked for me.A CD-RW was recognised as unknown by Nero Infotool and Nero CD-DVD Speed.I fired up Smart Burn and it told me that the disc was manufactured my Moser Baer India.
So you may try this,
See ya later,

Umm, that isn't neccessarily a good thing!

Basically, there are a couple of "illegal" ATIP codes that anyone can use if they feel like it. DST, MBIL and a number of smaller manufacturers have been known to use these ATIPs, but it's impossible to differentiate between manufacturers without more info about the disc. In come cases you can tell who made it by looking at the serial number(s), but even this isn't always accurate.
