Samsung 352B Problems

I've read around here that there are problems with this drive. Well, I never noticed it at first, but I do now. Reading cd's works just fine, but burning is another story. Whenever I burn a cd, about half way through, the burning speed slows way down for about 10 seconds, then speeds back up. When it finishes, I get a warning that an underburn was avoided two times. I've tried every different firmware available, no change. I put my 348B dirve in and do not see that problem, it burns flawlessly.
What gives? Is there any fix for this (other than a new drive)? Is Samsung aware? (Using Nero 6, btw and the 8 meg retail version of the drive)

What brand of CD-R media are you using?

I have the same problem you do on most media that it tries to burn at 52x speed.

All brands. Plus, it never tries to burn at 52x, it always says the media I'm using is only 48x certified and downgrades the burn speed to 48x. I use Verbatim, Imation and Fuji.

I have used those media you listed. I can only select 48x speed before I start the burn.

Memorex 52x Prodisc media, which I got from COMPusa, is the only one that I can sometimes get a full 52x burn without the burner slowing down. I was not able to find any other media that will burn successfully all the way through reaching 52x speed.

I have tried all the firmware available upto T806.
