Hi. My LG 48x24x48x CD-RW drive can read other CD-ROM's but they seem to have trouble reading Memorex Ultra Speed CD-RW's. The DVD-ROM can read them not my LG. I noticed some scratches on some of my Memorex CD-RW's. How deep does a scratch have to be to effect the CD-RW? Thanks, Craig.

Memorex 10x CD-RWs (also Infodisc) are pretty bad as well.

Melody 24x CD-RWs are also made by Infodisc, and are at LEAST as bad as the Memorex ones... although from my own experiences compared with what I've read, and the scans I've seen posted, the Melody branded discs may even be WORSE quality then the Memorex!

Those Melody discs must be terrible; I've seen some awful results from the Memorex 24x discs!

I haven't had a single USEABLE burn yet, and that's using the Plextor Premium drive to burn them!

To be honest, I'm surprised Memorex and Melody still sell this media. The quality is so poor that I would think that anyone who bought them would return them quickly and complain to the manufacturer or the seller.

My Memorex 12x CD-RW's (Infodisc) work fine. I don't think the quality is up to par with other disks, but they are readable, and for RW's, that's all that counts for me.

The Memorex 12x and 10x discs that I've used are readable, too, but the write quality on them is terrible. Here is the ATIP of one of the Memorex 12x CD-RWs:

The recording quality of these discs is also very bad when written on a NEC 16x10x40x CD-RW drive (I forgot the model number as it isn't mine).

Interestingly, the Memorex RW has been written and erased far less times than the Philips one.

I tend to avoid Memorex CD-RW discs and DVD-RAM (when I had a RAM drive).
Their CD-R, 4X DVD+R and 4X DVD+RW media are fine however...

their CD-Rs are all over the place! depending of course on who they had manufacturer them that week. Honestly, Memorex has more manufacturers producing their media then any other brand. My major beef with Memorex is that their CD-R have this nasty tendancy of being anywhere from nearly top notch to bottom of the barrel, with little to no distinguishing between them (it either says made in Japan or made in Taiwan, other then that you're out of luck)

I see what you mean, Dolphinius_rex. I have some very good Memorex discs that are made by TY, but I otherwise have avoided Memorex for the reason you mentioned.
