My LiteON LTR-52327S (52x32x52x) is having problems rcognizing Media, i dont know the exact types, but I have tried Verbatims and PNY Technologies. I just updated to the QS0C firmware from QS09, and no luck, the lite-on site is down, so this is my only hope!

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Can you be more specific about what it's doing? Blank media, burned media, software, etc.

It reads all media fine, but when i go to burn, it says to insert media. When i hit disc info, it says no media is in drive.

What software is installed? InCD can sometimes cause similar issues, but usually it gives a message about conflicts and such. I would discount the PNY media, it's pretty cheap stuff, but Verbatim DataLife Plus should work very well.

I use Nero.

Do you have AIM? This might be easier :)

Do you have Alcohol or CloneCD software on your computer? If I understand correctly, they both have an option which intentionally causes this issue to allow copies of certain copy-protected games to work.

I do have alcohol 120%, but I've had all that stuff on here for well over 2 months, and it just started this the other day.

In Alcohol, go to options - emulation. Uncheck "ignore media type" and see if that helps.

The drive isn't reading anything now? If so, try uninstalling the IDE channel to which it is attached in Device Manager and reboot the computer. This will re-install the driver, which may help.

Another thing to try is to boot from a bootable floppy disk in DOS and see if you can read a disc that way. You can find programs to make bootable DOS floppy disks with optical drive drivers at http://www.bootdisk.com.

Did a bootdisk, isnt recognizing any CD's, but it does the drive.

If you can't even read from the drive in DOS, it's probably dead.

hold on a second, when i run Nero infotool, it says the system ASPI isnt installed.

EDIT: I went to the adaptec site and installed the newest ASPI drivers like it says to do for win XP, now infotool says ASPI installation is corrupted.

Try installing ASPI 4.60. It works better than 4.7x.

Well, since the drive can't read anything through DOS (even though it is being recognized in DOS), the drive is probably dead. I'd recommend that you try to get another drive.
