In Plextor website for supported media, there is no EMTEC. Do Plextor Premium burn/read well Emtec media ?

What company actually manufactures the EMTEC media?

Older Emtec, up to 40X I believe, used to be TY. Very good media by all accounts. Faster Emtec, here in India at least, seems to be Moser Baer India. Good stuff, not as good as those TY discs.

The TY (Taiyo Yuden) discs should work just fine with your Plextor, fluxus_LT. I don't know about the Moser Baer; they may work fine, too.

Emtec went out of business, so there will be no more Emtec media in the future. This is probably why they are not listed as compatible.

Both TY and MBI discs burn fine on Plextor Premium based on my testing, although the latter is tested as causing more read errors, but still within ok limits imho.

PS Emtec storage business was sold to Imation. I'm not sure if the CD-R business was part of it or not.

Emtec also used CMC & Ritek as manufacturers in the past. Today cd-r's can be made by NANYA , European factory which uses Plasmon stampers,
MPO and MBIL.
Since a lot of different manufacturers are used and sometimes even packages contain multiple manufacturers.(AARGH) Plextor would not made a statement about disc compatability from this brand since they can't predict.
At the beging of this year Emtec was looking for a partner to take over the consumer part after the profesional part went bankrupt. Seeing that there still is a lot of media with there name on the market I think they were bought up or it's dumped.

The company I work for is an official distributor for both Emtec, and 3M (I believe Imation is a division of 3m isn't it?). Anyways, we haven't been able to purchase Emtec blank media for a LONG time now  I believe it became unavailable to us late last year, or very early this year.
