Minimum or recommended spec for Aopen cdrw4048?

Hi,

I have an Aopen CDRW4048 which I'm thinking of passing on to a friend of mine. The problem is that his machine is a Pentium MMX 200Mhz and I'm aware that this falls substantially below the Aopen recommended system specification of 350Mhz for the CPU.

I've always run a CD-RW well within the recommended machine spec. My question is therefore if anyone has any experience of successfully (!) running a CD-RW drive on a machine which doesn't meet the manufacturers system specifications. Is it just a matter of lowering the read & write speeds through the burning software (e.g Nero) to ensure reliable operation?

Thanks

Welcome to CDRLabs! :D

The burner will definitely work on that machine, although it may not be able to run at 40x without pausing frequently due to the slow computer. The only way to really tell how fast you can burn is to put it in and give it a try. You can select the burning speed you want to use in Nero, so you should be able to make it work fine.

thanks!
