I got a 52x24x52 and it's over 8 mos old and I've never had a problem. I've used Maxell 40x and Memorex 52x CD-Rs without any problems.

Okay. I'm having bad results with the Lite-On LTR-52327S and firmware QS0C, with Mitsubishi / Verbatim Datalife Plus (MCC) discs, especially those from Mexico. The Taiwan made ones are much better, but still pretty alarming. It's not a faulty drive because results with Maxell and Ritek are awesome. And it's not the disc, because the Azos work fine in the Plextor Premium and TDK DVD 440N writer.

It's strange, but under NERO CD Quality Scan, the MCC disc gets 0.0 for quality score and heaps of C1 and C2 errors. The Ritek gets a 99.9 score with zero C2 errors and very low C1 errors.

So it appears that it's a mismatch of media and drive ? I'm not saying this Lite-On is a bad drive, it certainly isn't with other media besides MCC. It's just I'm a bit puzzled how some of you are getting excellent write quality with your MCC discs and the LTR-52327S. The QS0B is only very slightly better.

I really like MCC discs and would like to use them with my LTR-52327S. Appears I have to use Ritek / maxell instead. TY discs are too expensive here.

Okay, I just ran the CD quality tests with NERO speed, but this time on my Lite-On 48161H, and the results are totally different. No C2 errors, and 0.11 Average, Max 12, Total 347 C1 errors.

What's going on here ? The disc is the same MCC one I used in the LTR-52327S.

Sometimes, two different drive models will report the number of C1 and C2 errors very differently, even for the same disc.

Jim wrote:If you don't solve your problems, or anyone else wants to buy a Lite-On LTR-52327S, both Circuit City and Best Buy have them for $19.99 after MIR this week. At this price I bought one as a back up and one for a Christmas gift. Best Buy also has TY Fuji 50 CD-R packs for $5 after MIR.

Thanks for the info Jim but I have already made up my mind to go straight for 811 or Plextor 708 or high speed drive when released.
