Lite-On LTR-52327S :(

I got this writer in a system I bought ftom ABS The drive is connected as a slave to a DVD drive. Nero info tool shows the max reading spead for this drive as 12X, writting as 16X. Is this because of the slave connection?
Thanks a lot for any input, folks.

Nero DriveSpeed might have the drive locked at 16x but you're probably using an older version of InfoTool.
Go here to d/l latest version: www.cdspeed2000.com

BTW..have you d/l latest Nero update? www.nero.com

It sounds like you have a blank disc in the drive. Lite-On drives typically show the read speed as 12x when a blank disc is in the drive, and the reason the max write speed is shown as 16x is probably because the blank disc is old, so the drive is limiting the recording speed to 16x. You probably won't be able to burn at 52x until you buy some new discs.

What brand of CDR do you have and what speed are they rated to burn at?

Thank you for your responses, guys.

Yes I have a pack of low speed (4x) CD-RWs (Memorex), but when I toss any of them into my Samsung combo drive on a different computer the reading and writting speads are shown as 52X. I guess that the problem is the Nero Info tool that comes with Nero Express that's bundled with my new computer.
BTW, can anyone tell me if I'd be better off setting my recorder as a master and DVD as a slave?

Thank you again.

It shouldn't make any difference. I'd recommend that you leave it the way it is.
