My family has gone down to Chicago for a few days and I wanted them to pick up some Jensen or AOpen 700mb High Speed RW's b/c of this test I did: Roundup of High Speed CDRW's on 52x LiteON.
The retailer I got the AOpen from no longer has any, and the Jensen's were from Spazmogen on a trip to Florida.

I did do a search here and here's One of the more helpful threads.

I'm staying away from Memorex, Verbatim and Yamaha media in this size. A search here revealed less than desirable results.

Here's what I found currently in Canada [CDN $]:

I've already looked @ Newegg, Microcenter, BestBuy and Fry's website to no avail for High Speed High Capacity CDRW's.

I'm pretty tempted to pickup some of those TDK's or HP's in Canada.

BUT....

I wouldn't mind some help if our neighbours to the south can point me in the right direction for those AOpen's or Jensen's.

Anywhere in Illinois and Michigan would be nice too.

Thanks in advance.

HP CD-RWs are made by CMC... and I would deffinatly go for a Ritek made CD-RW over them! And don't use the Melody "grade A" CD-RWs either.... ESPECIALLY the 24x ones!

burninfool : I did check out Buy.com. Guess I forgot to list it since I checked out so many. Pengo I've seen but never know such a dumb name could have Ritek as the manufacturer. Thanx.

dolphinius_rex : I take it the Melody stuff is grade "Z"
Even though the HP stuff is made by CMC, is it really that bad?

It can't be worse than my Princo's?

I might jump on the Ritek and some of that TDK. The Fuji stuff is interesting too.

Well, the Melody 24x re-writables are made by Infodisc... and if that isn't enough to put you off of them, then do a search on Infodisc, or on Memorex 24x CD-RWs

The Melody 12x CD-RWs are either made by CMC or DST, but Melody has their own quality control methods which they get plants to follow, and this usually leads to inferior products. I do my best to avoid Melody whenever possible! Although I do keep regular contact with Johnny, the owner of Sky One Video (which is the Burnaby branch of AsYouSee.com), since he is actually very well informed in certain areas of the CD Industry. Every once and a while he has VERY good deals on VERY good quality media... just avoid his regular stuff! :D

I've used Imation/CMC 4X CD-RW's if it's any consolation. Never had a problem with them. Does any store near you sell Verbatim? I love the Verbatim DataLifePlus CD-RW's made by Mitsubishi Chemicals. Top-notch!

Grand and toy sells 12x and 24x 74min Verbatim Datalife Plus CD-RWs, both of which sell for $3.99ea... which I think is a good price for a 24x CD-RW :D
