verbatim 32cdrw doesn't work on LTR52327S

I just bought a Sony CRX230E drive which is a 52327S clone. I flashed the Liteon QS0B fw onto the drive.

However, my Verbatim CDRW 32x 650MB does not work

Nero 5.5 (tried 5.5.9.9 and 5.5.10.20) burns the disc fine, however when I try to access its contents through my computer, it tells me to insert a disk. CDSpeed also shows the disc to be "Blank" instead of "Data CD". The same crap happens whether I choose to burn at 24 or 32x.

the Verbatim 24x 650MB burns and reads fine on this drive.

What is happening? I noticed after Nero has quick/full erased this 32x, the drive will eject the disc but this does not happen with the 24x disc. WTF?

Nero Infotool thinks the 32x disc is a 1x CDRW, but SmartBurn correctly identifies it as 32x.

I am using WinXP Pro SP1. The Liteon is on its own ata cable connected to a Silicon Image ata133 card.

Have you tried Nero 6?

What's the ATIP code for that media? Just curious. I have some MCC manufactured 32x RW media that works find with Lite-On drives.

Lead Out = 74:43:00

Here's a picof the disc.

I tried flashing the QS0C fw and the media finally works :D

I didn't try QS0C initially because i read somewhere that QS0B gave better write quality

anyway, the result doesn't look pretty :-?

Full erase @24x with Nero 6. Burnt at 32x.

Where did you get the CD-RW? Did it come with the drive?

nope. I bought the disc seperately. Here, we also have Mitsubishi 32x 650mb discs, but they're probably the same as the Verbatim

Where is "Here"?

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on some 32x CD-RW media.

I haven't found them locally. However, they're available online:

I bought the disc from a store here in singapore. We have Mitsubishi 24x 700mb discs as well. I don't have any of those on hand though.

I gave up trying to get the 32x disc to work with QS0C. The disc works but with horrible results. For some reason, the drive will write to it and my other media (24x Verbatim CDRW and 52X DLP SuperAzo) at 16x sometimes.

Flashing the drive back to QS0B fixed the 16x write problem, but now the 32x cdrw media doesn't work. Maybe I'll buy another piece and try again.

Thanks Ian!

I ordered a 10 pack of those from yesmicro a few hours ago, I'm hoping that they ship today.

Add-On:

They shipped today via UPS Ground!

eek! some of those shipping prices are horrible! Using my workplace's own courier account I could get rates of maybe even half their price!

Yup, but what can you do? Everyone over-charges on shipping, that's how online shops make most of thier money.

where I work, we charge cost+10% for shipping, and the 10% is used for paying for the boxes and the tape we use.

My 32x CD-RW media comes in today. Just checked and it's Out for Delivery with UPS now, it should be here by the time I get home, that mostly depends on the amount of other residential deliveries though, as if there are a lot more, he may come to me after he does his business pickups, but this new driver seems to come pretty early.
