My LiteON LDW-411s *THINKS* it can burn the 32x CD-RWs at both 24x and 16x, but when it goes to try, it fails to erase the disc, claiming the disc is not really a re-writable. i wonder if perhaps it would have succeded if the CD-RW had been previously erased?

Could you try that? (wouldn't be that usedful if you can't erase a rewritable, though
). My colleague's Artec isn't capable of writing Ultraspeeds and wanted to do so at
4x. It didn't work of course.
I recall reading somewhere that the laser has to be pulsed at twice the frequency for the US+ media, which is why I'm not all that optimistic. Each step to higher RW speeds has been via technology change.

However the influence of the technology changes is much smaller as companies presume.

I got the Pioneer DVR-107 to burn the Verbatim 32x CD-RWs!! the results still suck though
The burning was done at 24x, the other options were 20x and 16x.

There is new firmware for the LG 8525 version 1.03. It should improve the write strategy on CDRW's.
If you are not anxious
to flash your drive again just start the tool and do absolutely nothing. It will start to flash your drive automatically after approx. 20 seconds. It went fine for me.

I won't flash that drive unless I get specific instructions from LG on exactly how to do it

No problem.
BTW, Buy.com has free shipping and handling on the media a 10-pack. You'll see it when you click on their link from pricegrabber.com.

It's me again, just one more thing.
I tried pricegrabber.com on finding Liteon LTN 527T 52x cd-rom but turned out nothing. Same result on search over the internet.
Do you know where I can get this drive? I want to use it to couple up with SOHC-5232K which I'm going to place an order on.
Furthermore, just wondering that if Mitsumi FX5411M (the latest one, not 5400 or 5401) 54x cd-rom is a better choice over Liteon 527T?
thanks, you knowledgeable people

I've only seen the LTN-526 drive available. This is also a good drive.

Can these Verbatim 32x CD-RWs be used on a Plextor PX-708A at 24X?
Thanks!

I don't think so. Since these are readily available here now, I risked 2 Euros and bought one today to try on my LiteOn LTR48246S. It was pretty well as I expected:
no go. Nero (and InfoTool) both indicate one possible write speed:
2x. I didn't bother trying to burn it.

I use a Liteon 52327S drive for burning these CDs and Nero CD-DVD
Speed Disc Info shows a 1x burning speed. The first time I can burn
these CDs with a 32x speed. After the first full erase the highest burning
speed is 16x.
But 16x is not the speed the cds are rated for (24 - 32x).
Somehow these new CDs do not get along well with many cd recorders.

Well I had already ordered some so I will test them when I get them and if they don't work than I will return them.
2X WHAT A JOKE
Thanks!

I'm able to burn at 32x with this verbatim media on my Liteon 52327S without any issues.

My 2 cents:
That Verbatim media can be written and erased in my 52327S (still using QS09) at 24x and 32x. Nero Info Tool shows the same.
