Is this TEAC Combo Drive a Rebranded Lite-On?

I'm currently shopping for a CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive, and in doing my research I read that the TEAC DW-548D is in fact a rebranded Lite-On drive (maybe the LTC-48161). Does anybody know if this is true, or does TEAC manufacture their own combo drives?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, the TEAC DW-548D is manufactured by Liteon and is an LTC-48161H.

Okay, a few more questions:

First, do you have a source for that information?

Second, are there any differences in features, performance, or quality between the LiteOn-branded drive and the TEAC-branded drive?

For example, does TEAC purchase the cream-of-the-crop of the drives, or are they the same quality as the LiteOn-branded drives? Does TEAC make any changes to the drive, or is the faceplate the only difference?

Thanks for your help!

Yeah, and I have a backup of the Teac OEM firmware.

There shouldn't be.

Internal hardware will be the same. I don't know if they do any extra quality control...
