I was wondering if anyone knew where to get the discs that yamaha used to reccomend or at least something close thats not insanely priced? I have been using MCC as they are the darkest ones that I have and they look nice but would like to see what the drive is really capable of.
Thanks

TY is still too light. If you can get a hold of some of the older MCC discs with the darker AZO dye, it looks really nice.

reminds me of when I was in A&B sound and heard a sales rep recommending CMC made (Phthalocyanine) discs for a Yamaha CRW-F1.... I nearly smacked the guy, before asking the customer if they were for T@2ing. When he said they were, I recommended the only blue bottomed media in the store... unfortunatly Princo. I did however tell the guy to look for Verbatim Datalife Plus, which is what Yamaha had originally recommended for the procedure (or at least the dark Azo dye).

For people in Europe living in Germany or in surrounding countries.
Check the following store for verbatim metal azo media - only 650 mb version but there price is quite okay.

the verbatim datalife plus's are what came with the drive, like the 1 cd-r and 1 cd-rw for testing

and yes those show up the best and the quality is pretty good

but aviationwiz is right, on my TY discs it shows up great just the same

I think the vinyl disks offered by Verbatim also use the dark blue Azo dye. I don't know if these are still readily available in N.A. (I've never seen them here in Frankfurt).
