Making backup's of Karaoke CD+G

After searching through numerous forums (including CDRLabs.com) I am not able to find good instructions and suggestions on how to make backup copies of Karaoke CD+G disks.

I recently purchased CD+G Karaoke player and several Karaoke disks. My children just love to sing with Karaoke, but most of you know what that means: buying same Karaoke disk every 1-2 weeks.

It seems like making backup's of Karaoke disks is not that popular, but from what I have been able to read, the best software for backing up is Alcohol 120%. I downloaded trial version of Alcohol 120% and tried to backup one of the CD+G disks on my Optorite DD0203 4X DVD-/+RW drive as Nero Toolkit shows that the drive is CD+G compatible. No success. After reading the CD+G disk for a while on DVD burner Alcohol 120% locks up the system at certain point (usually 5-10% of reading). When I look closely at CD+G disk I can see the spaces between the tracks, probably where the graphics of each song are located, and I think that's the point where Alcohol 120% stops reading the disk. The same reading lock-ups occur on my Hi-Val 48x24x48 CD-RW. I did not try to backup the CD+G with Nero since there is no word anywhere saying that Nero is CD+G compatible, so the Nero most likely will copy the audio part only.

Can someone provide suggestions on how to backup Karaoke CD+G disks? If Alcohol 120% is the only software, why it cannot read the CD+G disks? How can I make sure that my CD-RW or DVD-/+R/W will read and burn CD+G disks?

Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

search the forum, there are a few (too few) posts about CD+G.
cfitz gave some links to software for backing up CD+G discs.

unfortunately, even when Nero InfoTool reports a drive as supporting CD+G that's not necessarily true, it might READ them but not be able to WRITE them. apparently there's some hardware issues, and very few drive can actually do this.
Plextor drive are noted for being good for CD+G.

doing a search with the keyword "karaoke" gives a few results, are are some of them (try the rest too...):
