Hello I have the chance to upgrade my one year old 48125W to a brand new LTR-52327S for free. A relative is contracting me to build a new computer and they want a burner. This person is a total novice and would be happy with my old burner. So is the new burner way better then the old one, (features, quality) or just a little faster on the rewrite ? Thanks.

If the upgrade is free, I'd say it is probably worth it. If not, don't worry about upgrading. The 52327S seems to have somewhat better writing quality, but the speed difference from 48x to 52x is hardly noticible.

Same here.. if you can get it free, it's a nice upgrade. If not, the 48125W is a good writer too.

The 52327S is WAY better at writing and reading. I'd go so far as to say it's worth the cost to upgrade even if you have to pay the whole whopping $35 to do it.
