Pioneer A06 burner (with firmware upgrade) and want to get another drive that'll rip faster. I was looking at the Lite-on 166, but would like to have a faster CD burner as well. So, I was seriously considering one of Lite-on's new combo drives....the SOHC-5232K. I did see a speed test for it somewhere on here, but it didn't have any direct comparisions to the Pioneer A06 or to the Lite-on 166. Can anyone offer some advice?

Thanks

well you could just speed hack your a06:

I did upgrade to the hacked firmware and it still seems slow

I'll have to watch the speed on the next dvd that I rip. The lite-on would still be faster though....right? 16x compared to the hacked a06 at 12x

yes, if you got a 166s, therotically it would be faster

although DON'T get the 166s or any jlms drive, mine crapped out after 4 months or so of use

just buy a pioneer 120 or 120s(slot loading)

im back to using my older 16x pioneer 106s
