Looking to burn data and music. What's a good brand of cd-r media for this drive? For DVD's I am using Ritek G04's.

Most, if not all CDR media works just fine with the 107. I'd suggest good quality discs though like Mitsubishi (Verbatim) or Taiyo Yuden, simply because these are likely to last longer

CDR is a mature technology now, and DVD burners have very high quality optics (much higher than is required for CDR), so unless you get a disc that is really very poor quality, or one with a "generic" ATIP (ie MultiMedia Masters and Machinery, Plasmon or 972700) which the drive has to take a "best guess" with and won't always get right, the majority of DVD writers have very good write quality indeed with CDR media.

I've used some real crap with my 107 (Princo, Customer Pressing Oosterhout and some old Postech media I'd left in the sun and had become "bronzed" round the edges) yet somehow the drive managed to make pretty good burns with all of them.

anything thats round and resembles a disc will burn in it. j/k I would second jase's comments about the TY's(old Fujis) and MCC's(Verbatims) lasting longer. Riteks that I have used (Maxell labeled) work fine too.

I haven't had a problem with any CD-R media so far in the Pioneer DVR-107. And that includes some media that wouldn't burn properly in a lot of other drives.
