Any way to lower CD read speed?

Hi all, I've got a CD-R sitting here that was burned with a POS buner (ie, Optorite DD0401) and am having trouble reading back the disc.

Any util's that can set the CD read speed to a lower value, hopefully then I'll be able to copy the disc.

My CD-R software is CopyToDVD (which has BlindWrite, but I don't see anything that can cap BW's read speed).

I know Nero 6 has a feature to do this, but I don't have Nero 6 (nor do I want it; it's as buggy as Windows). Any freeware apps I'm missing?

I listed all of the ways that I know of here: Speed Control Utilities

You can try Nero DriveSpeed or CDBremse if there is no utility intended for your drive from the manufacturer.

Ah! Cool, thanks!

I was just on the CD Speed page and didn't even see DriveSpeed; I thought that was just part of Nero 6!

Weird; UltraISO made a CD image of it perfectly. Now too see if the data's ok (it skips bad sectors, sorta like CloneCD).

Wow.

The UltraISO image WAS perfect, no speed cap needed. Sigh...I hate computers....

The problem is the burners write quality, or lack there of. Unless you've got the burner to actually write CDs and DVDs WELL, I'll stick to using my Lite-On and NEC drives.
