24X AND 16X

hi!
long time that i want to know about this.
see i got an asus 5224a writer, and i cant check c1 and c2 errors with this. Neither have a lite o plextor near to chek'em out.

So i have found my own way to check quality by testing the discs on an old cdplayer. this player has lots of troubles reading bad quality discs (like cmc's). so far i tried those manufactured by ACER MEDIA (labeled as BENQ) and they work great with the stereo.

but i have found that in alll discs no matter what brand they are (cmc, verbatim, plasmon, etc) the burned surface doesnt look the same way if they are burned beeween 16X and 24X.
If the disc is buned under 16X the burned surface looks weak (is harder to compare the burned and unburned area)

but if it's burned over 24X the surface looks "stronger" and it differs a lot with the unburned area.

MY QUESTION IS: does it makes any difference if the burnt area looks stronger or weaker to the eyes?
Recording over 24X makes better quality discs?

There is no relation of the colour of the recording surface and performance.The laser that is used in the drives is of entirely different spectrum.

color doesn't matter, but different speed may slightly efect the readability
older CD stereo refuses to playback CD burnt more than 12X

I still don't trust rings after the first time I encountered these it was proven that the zones had higher errors. The faster the speed used for the zone the more errors.
I would suggest burning at 16x and lower for audio like I allways recommend.
