Why do CD-ROM trays turn blue?

All my beige burners develop this blue ring around the drive tray near the outer edge of the disk. Is there a way to prevent this or does it happen to all burners? Of course black doesnt suffer from this but it sure does make the burner look cheap. This has happened to me on all my burners. I do sometimes burn as many as 30 CDs in a row though.

please provide the drives your using
developing a blue ring sounds like your media is rubbing on the tray itself which is a huge bad thing

it happens on all my drives with beige trays
it happened on my BTC 52X32X, LiteOn 5238S, and NEC ND-3520 too.

i guess its just been awhile since ive owned a beige drive
black looks tons better with a silver aluminum case

Maybe it's depressed.
Seriously,I've had numorous beige writers and never noticed any discoloration.

If its all your drives, it might be the media.

it happens with all media I use from RITEK, Prodisc, or CMC. Right now I'm using CMC and it seems to cause it although I used to use RITEK primarily and had the same problem.

Is it because he is burning 30 discs in a row? I imagine the drive becomes super hot! I don't know what exactly it could be, but maybe something is melting due to the extreme heat.
Do any of the discs have errors on them after they are burned?

I dont get many disk errors at all. If I do it is under the rate you would expect if you burn a lot of CDs. I put in a new drive that was beige recently knowing that it might turn blue. I observed it and burned only a few disks at a time and almost within the first 10 burns the blue film around the edge of the cd tray started to develop. If it doesnt happen to you guys then I guess it must be the disks I am using. But CMC's are pretty common as they are usually found in Memorex and Imation packs.

How many drives has this happened on? Is the ring symetrical and the same on each drive?
Does the shade of blue change depending on the discs you use? I guess probably it just gets darker and darker the longer you use the drive?
Are you a fan of blueberry muffins?
