Ok I know this has probably been asked a billion times but, here I go:

What is the best (cheap) DVD\CD writer that produces the best quality burn?

I heard that Plextor was pretty good but I'm looking to spend a little less.

Any recommendations?

peace

Subjective question. Alot depends on the type of media you normally use.

I guess to be more specific, which one of these 2 units would provide the best quality burns given that the best/recommended media is used:

Pioneer DVR-109
Sony DWD-26A

thanks!

Again there are many factors(media, firmware, model number, etc) but it consistantly get high marks.

asus crw5232 (asus quietrack). look at write quality tests. nothing else really matters. the aopen 52x was actually the best. new liteon sohr 5239s (all youll find in stores now, 52327ss are out of manufacture now) are terrible, giving c2 errors wherease other burners don't here are some tests:

(btw, plextor gets the WORST SCORES EVER over several media types. why all the hype when they write crappy disks?_)

Hello!

Sast, Princo...

Both are very crappy media

actually the princo have the best compatibility with hard to read cd players. the higher quality cdr like taiyo yuden dont read well in some older machines... i find middle of the road media does better at wide compatibility.
heres some ritek. look at the numbers .2000 errors in samples is not a crappy disc. but what we're after is look at how the 52327s does so well and the new models the sohrXX do so poor

evanrabby, it's too bad that you don't post clearly for each scan what drive was the burner and which is the reader. if you can, please edit your posts and add that info.
