Can a CD-R be disguised as a pressed CDROM? "DisCompose

I bought a PC game over on Ebay. The disc that came with the game, looks different, from a real, store-bought copy that I bought back in 1995. The bottom looks silver like a regular pressed CD. But the top label is lighter in color, and starting to flake off. The label looks like it has printed "mesh" design, made up of dots (Silkscreen effect) or (like a dot-matrix printer uses). It may be different because the versions of the game are different? Text files on both CD's say different versions of the game.

Nero says the disc application used was "DisComposer 1.01". Does this mean the disc is actually a CD-R? How can I make sure that discs are CDROM and not fake CD-R? If the ATIP is faked, is there any other way?

well looks like there both burned in 95 so my first guess would be both are pressed

ive had this happened to me before on x-com games, where the label is silkscreened on like a normal pressed but i could see dots labeled like you mentioned

Probably just a different batch of discs. They probably used that software to create a 'master' CDR for the duplication house and it just got stuck on the copies.

I seriously doubt, from your description, that it's a CD-R.... it may be a pirate CD-ROM but that's an entirely different question. :)
