Not allowing me to burn at max speed...Please Help!!!!

i have a 52x cd-r drive....i got new cd-r's yesterday that say 52x, but the problem is that when i use nero to burn a cd it only lets me choose 4x or 8x. is there an update i am missing or what. before these cd's i have always burned at 48x-52x...someone please help!!!

Internal CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive
(Max speeds: CD-R write 24x, CD-RW write 10x, CD Read
24x, DVD-ROM read 8x

and i am trying to burn 690 mb data cd's...i have always done this with no problem. i am using Dynex cd-r's supposed to burn at max 52x!!??

If its a laptop drive, its probably not even capable of 52x writing speeds. At the most its probably 24x.

I'd check and see if there's a firmware update available for your drive. Otherwise I'd try other media.

make sure DMA is enabled.
check the FAQ forum for instructions.
