TDK veloCD (5200b) problems! (Help!)

So I've had this TDK veloCD model 5200b for quite a while now. I don't use it too often, but it's never failed me before. I recently bought some Imation 52x media for cheap and went to burn something on it. The CD spun up then down then up then down, repeating. It wouldn't burn and I actually couldn't get the drive to eject the disc until I rebooted. I think the drive even has problems reading the disc, not just burning.

Thinking that the problem could be media, I went searching around to see if I had any leftover blank CDRs. I found some TDK 52x media and tried to burn again. Same problem. Just spins around a while, but doesn't burn. Perhaps the TDK media is cheap as well, but I've *never* had media problems in this drive before, and I'm not doing anything out of the ordinary with it.

After all of these problems, I went searching for firmware. As I thought I had the latest firmware, I went searching for Lite-On firmware, just to see. I updated with 67OF but had the same problems. I then found there was a TDK 67U5, so I updated with that. Same problems.

Does anyone happen to know why suddenly I'm having media problems in this drive in and out of Windows? Is the drive on its way out? Is there any way to fix it?

Thanks everyone!

It sounds like the drive is failing. As cheap as drives are these days, its probably not worth your time to fix it.
