Cd Speed

I have an Optiarc 7200. When I burn a long audio CD and check it with CD Speed disc quality test (Benchmark test, too), I notice a downward spike on the graph, always around the 68:00 mark.
Yet, there are no C2 errors. When I copy the tracks onto my hard drive with Exact Audio Copy, there aren't any C2 errors.

Why would this happen without C2 errors?

Why would it always happen in the same spot on the disc? Could this have to do with the software (I use Roxio on this computer)?

What drive are you using to test for C2 errors? The Optiarc? Is it all discs? Are you burning the discs at full speed or something less?

Yes. I'm using the Optiarc to test them. I've only burned a few audio discs that were this long on this drive, and all three or four of them have the spike on the graph at the 68:00.

I'm burning them at the slowest speed (7x). All lthe discs are Maxell Music CDRs (made by Taiyo Yuden). This last one came from a different batch than the others.

The discs do play without any problem. I'm just curious why this would happen.

I'm not really sure. If it occurs with more than one disc or batch, its gotta be something with the drive and/or software. Try burning a disc with ImgBurn or Nero to see if the problem goes away. If not, the drive may be doing something odd when burning at that speed.

I have Nero (6.0.66) on my other computer. I'm going to install it on this one and see what happens. Thanks.

ImgBurn is free... It works great and is very popular and leaves a small footprint.... I would try that first before moving the drive. You burning Verbs or TY media or something else?

I just downloaded ImgBurn and will give that a try, too.

I wasn't going to move the drive. I was just going to install Nero 6.0.66 (which is on my other computer) on the computer with the Optiarc.

I'm using Maxell TYs.
